BALTI boss Marco Nott insisted he would “rather have the points on the board” as the race for the Dorset Premier League title hots up.

The Weymouth-based side are currently 12 points clear of their nearest rivals at the top of the division, but know if fellow title-hopefuls Holt win their five games in hand, they will put themselves in the box seat to seal the crown.

Asked for his thoughts on the title race, Nott, whose side travel to Mere Town tomorrow (2pm) told Echosport: “Holt are a very good side and we have a very big game in a couple of weeks against them.

“I’d rather have the points on the board but, if Holt win all their games then they deserve to win the league.

“We are just doing what we can to give ourselves the best opportunity to win it. We are doing that at the moment with some really good performances.

“We just have to keep winning and keep the pressure on really.”

Elsewhere in the division this weekend, Bridport Reserves host Sturminster Newton at St Mary’s Field.

n In Sydenhams Wessex One, Weymouth Reserves go in search of their 12th league win of the campaign when they take on Totton & Eling at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm).
