BLUES’ manager Gary Bailey insists he has been urging his side to keep things consistent throughout their impressive Sydenhams Wessex League campaign.

The island outfit are currently on a perfect winning run of 10 league games in the division and will be looking to make it 11 when they make the trip to sixth-placed AFC Portchester tomorrow (3pm).

Bailey told Echosport: “Like every week, we are going to have to be at our best if we are going to come away with anything.

“We can’t do a lot more than keeping the lads ticking over and reminding them about doing the basics and what has got us to where we are.

“It’s just about trying to keep replicating those things. If they keep doing that then things take care of themselves.”

He added: “We don’t need to gee them up or work on their confidence. It’s just about reminding them to keep performing and repeating what they are doing.

“We know the quality we have in the dressing room, it was just a case of finding that consistency.”

Asked about the clash with Portchester, Bailey added: “It will be a tough test there.

“They pose a threat and we know that. We are going to go there fully aware of the task ahead of us.”

Ashley Smith is set to return to the Portland squad this weekend.
