ALLENDALE 0

CHICKERELL United recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Allendale to take their winning run to six in the Dorset Senior League.

Despite missing numerous opportunities the Chickens dominated the game from start to finish, with goals coming from Warren White, Josh Why and James Hansford, and manager Steve Coward couldn’t hide his delight at the victory.

He said: “It was a really good win and probably our best performance of the year.

“We played some really good football in the final third and if we’d have won seven or eight nil, you couldn’t have argued.

“Allendale played some good football but not in the areas which they should have done. We just dominated.

“We missed a few too many easy chances, but considering where they are in the league, we made it look easy.

“I knew they were a hard side to break down because they’re very physical and quick, but we passed the ball and made it difficult for them.

“It’s nice to see us improving each week, and once you have the belief to win and the belief to play, you’re halfway there.”

Coward then went on to praise his players, and said that extending the club’s winning run to six has done wonders for the side’s confidence.

He said: “The players did what they were told and they were good to watch. You couldn’t say that anybody had a bad game, and they’re making it difficult to pick a team because all of the lads are playing well.

“They’re starting to make my life a bit more difficult, which is a nice problem to have because every player is playing to their best.

“It’s a huge confidence boost (to extend their winning run).

“You’ve got to have that belief that you can win every game. We’ve beaten the team that are there to win the league, and if you beat that team then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t believe you can beat everyone else.

“Six weeks ago we were 10th in the league, and it was just a case of picking ourselves up but when you pick up a few wins, the whole morale in the dressing room changes.

“The players are looking at the fixtures and the league table to see how high they can finish, and it’s that belief that they can improve again.”
