DORCHESTER Town’s Ollie Griggs says that he is reaping the benefits of working hard behind the scenes at the club.

The Magpies’ midfielder, who joined the club from Eastleigh in January, has praised the team’s efforts during their 2-2 draw with Hitchin last week, and says that the confidence it brings can only be a good thing.

He said: “It was really important. The first half was a bit of a disappointment with us conceding two goals, but we came in at half-time and talked about it.

“We thought we could get the draw if we worked harder, and we did. It was a really good result and everyone was really happy after the game to get a point against a top team to take us away from the relegation zone.

“It was a massive confidence boost, particularly for the attackers. They’re getting more service and that gives everyone more confidence to know we can do it against the bigger teams, so there’s no reason why we can’t beat the other teams.”

Saturday sees the Magpies host Kings Lynn Town, and Griggs is hoping the side can replicate last week’s effort.

He said: “It’ll be another tough game. We just have to go in with the same mentality as we had in the second half and if we do that for the whole game we have a great chance of picking up some more points.

“We’ve all been working really hard in training and we just want to make ourselves secure so we can play in this league again next year.

“Everyone just wants to do well for the club and themselves, so picking up those

points is vital for everyone and it just creates a buzz.”

The midfielder has become a first-team regular of late, and is pleased the work he is putting in is reaping rewards.

He said: “I’ve been focusing on working hard in training and working hard off the field as well to make sure I’m fit and so I can secure that starting place and cement it for myself.

“I just want to keep working hard in games and in training sessions so I can keep improving.”
