CLEVEDON TOWN 0

BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker hailed his side’s defensive display as they kept a clean sheet in their 2-0 win at home to Clevedon Town.

The home side got off to a blistering start when winger Ed Butcher found the net after getting beyond his man on 11 minutes to put the Bees in the ascendancy at St Mary’s Field.

Then, following the break, it was keeper Jason Hutchings’ turn at the other end to be a hero. He saved a spot-kick from Clevedon striker Isaac Reid on 71 minutes to keep the hosts ahead.

And just five minutes later, Fricker’s men made it two.

Mark Salter popped up with a goal, converting Butcher’s cross to double his side’s advantage and seal the game for the home side.

Fricker told Echosport: “It was good, they didn’t threaten us too much.

“The most pleasing thing from my perspective was we looked solid as a back four. We haven’t kept many clean sheets this season, so it was really pleasing.”

On the penalty save made by his goalkeeper, the Bees’ chief added: “Hutch is decent at saving penalties to be fair, he has done it under us for the last couple of seasons.

“It was a very soft penalty decision, so I think it was a bit of justice that Hutch saved it to be honest.”
