STRIKER Stuart Fleetwood revealed he would consider the Terras as an option for next season.

The much-travelled frontman signed off his impressive loan spell at Weymouth with a hat-trick during the 4-0 victory over Leamington on Saturday, in what was new boss Mark Molesley’s first game in full charge.

Molesley confirmed to Echosport that the club have held initial talks with the former Cardiff City, Hereford and Luton hot-shot, but insisted it was still “early days” in negotiations.

Asked about his future, Fleetwood, who scored 18 goals in all competitions for Weymouth, told Echosport: “Obviously I have spoken to Moles.

“I have said to him that I will think it over and get back to him pretty soon. I like to get things sorted and don’t like to be waiting around over the summer expecting the phone to ring.

“It’s something I will seriously consider. I have complete transparency with Moles and I’ve said to him I will be as honest as possible.

“In three or four weeks’ time I’m sure there will be some sort of movement and we will see what happens.”

Manager Molesley, who has already retained the services of talismanic centre-half Stephane Zubar for next term, added: “We have had an initial chat with Fleets just to see what his thoughts are for next season.

“I have been impressed with his attitude and application.

“I think he really enjoyed his time at Weymouth, like most players do. He was impressed with what we could offer him and that’s why he’s considering it, but it is very early days.

“Fleets obviously lives quite a way from Weymouth as well, so that’s going to have its challenges and I’m sure he is going to have some other offers as well.

“The good thing is we are in the mix.”
