BALTI Sports boss Marco Nott labelled his side’s 6-0 win at Sherborne Town Reserves as the “perfect start” to their Dorset Premier League campaign.

Sports scored three goals in each half, with Danny Andrews bagging a brace and further strikes coming from Sammy Nichols, Ryan Dovell, Liam Taylor and Oscar Preece.

Nott, speaking to Echosport after the game, believed Balti “thoroughly deserved” the victory.

He said: “It was a perfect start. You don’t really know what to expect from the first game, but we played some really good football and thoroughly deserved it. It could have been a few more.

“We had a few tough results in pre-season but there was no need to panic. As soon as we got there we got the ball down and played at a good tempo.

“After the second goal they couldn’t follow us. Our pace and play was outstanding and we scored some good goals. It was a real confidence boost and good to see.

“Ryan Dovell was a new signing and showed what a good player he is and it was a good all-round performance, really.”

Balti started well and killed the game as a contest before half-time with three well-taken goals.

Andrews, showing his usual good pace and energy up front, notched the opening two with Nott pleased by Dovell’s contribution for the first.

“Danny got the first two, one was a really good through ball from Ryan – I thought he was man-of-the-match. He put it in to Danny who lobbed the keeper, then he got a second.

“The third was a mix-up and it fell to Sammy who scored into an open goal,” he said.

After the break, Balti doubled their margin of victory with a further three clinical finishes.

Nott said: “The fourth goal was Ryan, that was good play down the right and then Oscar went through on goal and lobbed the keeper. The sixth was Liam Taylor. It fell nicely in the box and he clipped it home from the penalty spot.”

Balti next face a derby match away to rivals Dorchester Sports at the Avenue Stadium on Wednesday (6.30pm), with Dorchester having enjoyed a 7-1 thrashing of Blandford United in their opening fixture.
