BALTI SPORTS 8

PARLEY SPORTS 1

BALTI Sports boss Marco Nott labelled his side’s performance as “quality” after they thrashed Parley Sports 8-1 at Weymouth College in the Dorset Premier League.

A Ricky Lane hat-trick, a brace from Ethan Devaney and goals from Danny Andrews, Sammy Nichols and Shane Lock gave Balti a handsome win, which Nott admitted was “very pleasing”.

He told Echosport: “It was quality, a really good performance. I don’t know where it came from. We completely outplayed them.

“They are a good side but we played really good football. It was nice to be back at home so we could get on a big pitch and play our football. It was very pleasing.”

Nott believed the first goal was crucial as two strikes from Lane and a Devaney lob saw Balti build a 3-0 lead at half-time.

“It was quite an even game and the first goal was always going to be important. Ricky ran through and it was a really good goal, he’s a class player. He has been for years and he always scores goals. He was outstanding.

“He wriggled in the box and hit a lovely shot right into the bottom corner.

“We missed a few chances after that and Ethan Devaney lobbed the keeper to make it 3-0 on half-time,” he said.

And Nott said the timing of Sports’ fourth goal effectively “killed” the game.

“They came out quite well and they scored within two minutes to make it 3-1. From our kick-off we went down the wing and Shane scored to make it 4-1. It killed the game to get the fourth. We were in control then and played some really good football.

“Ricky then got his hat-trick after Danny scored the fifth. Ethan and Sammy Nichols scored two great solo goals,” he said.

Nott, who was expecting a tough game owing to a poor record against Parley, thought his players’ efforts in pre-season shone through in the latter stages of the game.

He said: “We always have trouble against Parley. I don’t think we have won at their place, they are always really tough games. We had a lot of players away on Saturday and a lot injured as well.

“I was a bit nervous before the game and obviously Wednesday was a real battle.

“We weren’t sure how the fitness was going to be but it showed just how important pre-season was.

“We literally ran through them in the end.”

Balti next play Swanage Town & Herston away tomorrow, with the hosts having won all three of their games so far.
