PORTLAND United boss Simon Browne is aiming to make life “difficult” for Andover Town when they visit Grove Corner in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division tomorrow (3pm).

Only Town, with eight wins from eight games, and leaders Blackfield and Langley, who have won all 11 games so far, have 100 per cent records this term.

But Browne is hopeful of using home conditions to the Blues’ advantage as they look to upset Andover’s formbook.

He told Echosport: “We’ve said about Portland not being a nice place to go because of the geography. We have the risk of the elements and it makes it the same for both sides.

“It’s up to us to make it difficult and use it to our advantage.”

Looking at Town’s squad, Browne singled out Mike Gosney as the visitors’ dangerman, the winger having moved after a long spell with AFC Totton.

He said: “I thought from the squad they’ve assembled they will be a decent side. They’ve got Mike Gosney, he’s been a good non-league player for a good few years. We’ll have to be wary of him.

“He’s got good delivery from set-pieces, a good eye for goal and they’re doing well. It will be a tough one for us.”

Sanchez Baker is expected to return to the Blues’ squad as they hunt for their second home league victory of the campaign.
