BRIDPORT assistant-manager Paddy Behan is looking to “sow a little bit of doubt” into Buckland Athletic’s minds in their Toolstation Western Premier Division encounter on Tuesday (7.30pm).

The Bees visit second-placed Athletic off the back of a 10-day break, their last match being a dramatic 3-3 draw with Cribbs.

Buckland, meanwhile, lost 4-1 away to Bridgwater in their previous fixture, and Behan is aiming to capitalise on that blip.

He told the Bridport News: “Buckland are a good side. They’re always there or thereabouts. But obviously they lost 4-1 so they will be looking to turn that around.

“It should be a good game. I think we can get into them early doors and maybe sow a little bit of doubt in their minds considering they conceded four goals.

“Scoring goals doesn’t seem to be a problem for us which is nice. They’ve got players from midfield that score goals and they’re just a good footballing side.

“We want to go to Buckland and make them think ‘we’ve got a game on our hands,’” he said.

Adam Fricker’s men trained on Saturday morning and Behan said that the timing of the session was to reduce the impact of a 10-day lay-off between games.

He said: “It’s just easier because we’ve got a lot of lads who work shifts. I think it’s good for the lads to have a little rest but obviously when you’re playing with lots of confidence you want the games to keep coming.

“The lads are playing really well. You just get in a rhythm, but it’s good that the lads have had a week off.

“The lads will be itching to get back. When you’re getting results you just want o keep playing football.”

Bridport are bolstered by returning midfielder Braeden Symes after his one-game suspension for picking up five yellow cards, but the Bees will be without Leigh Bailey and Ryan Hayter due to unavailability.

Behan said: “We’ll be without Leigh at Buckland, Ryan too. Apart from that we have got everyone back, but Bailey will be a big miss. It’s just a case of someone stepping in and doing his job.

“Braeden is back. He’s one of those lads that gets on with his game and he covers an awful lot of ground for us.

“He does that role that no-one else wants to. He’s capable of switching the play quite quickly but defensively he’s been excellent.”

n Bridport Reserves lost 5-2 against previously winless Milborne Port in the Dorset Premier League. Dan Baggs and Ryan Gall were on target for the Bees.
