BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker is targeting a quick recovery against Longwell Green Sports in their Toolstation Western League Premier Division clash at St Mary’s Field tonight (7.45pm).

The Bees lost 2-1 at the weekend to a late Hengrove Athletic counter-attacking goal, and were dumped out of the Les Phillips Cup quarter-finals by Shepton Mallet on penalties the previous week.

Bridport faced a then-bottom Sports in December and won 1-0, and Fricker is expecting a similarly difficult game against the now 19th-placed side.

Fricker told Echosport: “We need to bounce back. We had a tough game at Longwell and whether you play the top or bottom teams in this league there’s no easy game. It’s a tough old league to be in.

“It’s all about how the lads are focused coming into the game. We’re absolutely delighted with what the lads have done this season and I fully expect us to bounce back.”

He added: “When we played up there the grass was long, the pitch was heavy and I couldn’t really see what threats they had, but I know they’ve strengthened since then, we just need to be wary.

“But if we do what we’re capable of that’s all we’ll concern ourselves with at the moment.”

Leigh Bailey misses out with work commitments, while striker Mark Salter is expected to be fit after a back problem.
