PORTLAND TOWN 5

PORTLAND Town made it 11 unbeaten with a routine Dorset League Division Two win on Saturday.

Dominating from the off, the islanders caused regular problems on the break with debutant Luke Mull seeing a shot cleared off the line and then a header from a corner was hacked clear in a couple of early minutes.

On 15 minutes, the visitors broke the deadlock, Mull was again involved as he broke into the box before squaring to Jordan Butler who swept home.

A minute later, and it was 2-0, Danny Clifford nipping through to Shane Maguire who stabbed home from seven yards.

The away side continued to dominate for long periods and Mull went close again when he struck the underside of the bar from 10 yards.

Butler then raced through from Lewie Dolan's lovely pass but shot over when one-on- one.

Adam McKay had come in for his debut in the Town goal but had been largely untroubled in the first period but made two smart stops just after the break.

However, normal service was resumed on 58 minutes when Darius Bindea was fouled in the box, and Matt Dunlop stepped up to fire home a twice taken spot kick.

Just five minutes later, and it was four, Clifford flicking on to Butler who then struck a beautiful effort into the top corner from 25 yards to seal the points.

As it looked like it would turn into a riot, Town were held up when Jon Cameron was sent off, rather harshly to all watching, so they played the last half hour with 10 men.

Broadmayne saw a bit more ball, hitting a post and then having a goal chalked off for foul play in the build up.

Town were now playing on the counter though, Mull, Butler and Clifford were a threat on the break but it was not until the last minute when Clifford threaded a ball through to Dunlop who calmly slotted home his second to wrap it up.
