BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker expects a “tricky” clash with Buckland Athletic when the two sides meet at St Mary’s Field for their Toolstation Western League Premier Division fixture tonight (7.45pm).

The Bucks are embarking on a gruesome schedule of four games in four days, their encounter with Bridport being their second in the sequence, but Fricker is wary of the Devon team, who lie fifth in table, four places above his charges.

He told Echosport: “Buckland will be tricky because they’ve got to play four games in a row. We don’t know if they will draft players in to boost their team.

“It will be an interesting game. I think in this league there’s absolutely no easy game. We just need to get as many points on the board as we can.”

Fricker has not given up hope of a dream top six finish, but admits he would be “over the moon” with a top eight placing.

“It’s technically in our hands, but I think realistically it’s going to be tough. I think we can get in the top eight, but we’re more likely to finish in the top 10.

“If you’d have given me that before the season I’d have been absolutely delighted. I think the top eight we’d be absolutely over the moon with that. But we appreciate the top six is going to be very tough.”

Defenders Lee Sweet and Matt Condliffe return for Bridport.
