LYME Regis’ Craig Moore has successfully defended his Bridge Tyres and Wheels Wiscombe Park Hill Climb Championship crown.

This is the first time in its 10-year history that this feat has been accomplished.

Having taken the accolade in 2011, Moore set his target at the beginning of this season to bring the silverware back to the coastal resort despite the challenge of more than 50 drivers from across the southern counties.

At the wheel of his self-prepared Ford Cortina GT, motor technician Moore, secured the series win ahead of Pilbeam MP62 single-seater driver Ed Hollier by the margin of 0.77 of a point.

Having made some set-up changes to the suspension of the Suzuki Hayabusa powered racer in July, the Ottery St Mary driver had a strong second half to the season, reducing the points deficit but failing to usurp Moore’s advantage.

In securing the premier award, Moore received the Bridge Tyres and Wheels Trophy, a replica and a cheque for £300 at an awards presentation evening staged at Wiscombe House where 100 guests celebrated his success.
