DORCHESTER RESERVES 7 BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS 2

JACK Vallier grabbed a hat-trick as the Magpies romped to a 7-2 thrashing of Bemerton Heath at the Avenue.

Another Jack, Twyford, pictured, inset, was also on target twice for the hosts while Jamie Beasley hit the back of the net and had a claim for another.

It’s still very early days in the Wyvern Premier League but the three points sees the Magpies sit at the top of the table with two wins from two.

Vallier gave the home side a 2-0 lead, firing into the top corner at the end of a move he started and then finishing superbly after linking up with captain Will Gape and Danny Green.

Bemerton pulled one back through Adam Jones but the two-goal margin was restored before half-time when Twyford scored with a first-time shot from just outside the box.

The game was all but put out of Bemerton’s reach after the restart when Jamie Beasley’s stunning strike was tipped onto the bar by the visiting keeper who unluckily saw the ball crash off the woodwork, hit him on the head and go in.

Star striker Vallier completed his hat-trick before Bem-erton’s Russell Jones scored a consolation either side of Twy-ford’s second and the Magpies’ seventh from Beasley.

“It was another very good performance,” said boss Dave Kiteley. “I was very pleased for Jack Vallier because that hat-trick would have done him the world of good.

“With Josh Tennant going away to university, it’s a great opportunity for Jack to step into his shoes. He led the line very well on Tuesday and he took all of his goals very well.

“We played him in midfield during pre-season to get that work ethic into him and it seems to have paid dividends.”

He added: “We looked very sharp and had a lot of pace on the flanks with Jack Twyford and Jamie Beasley, and Danny Green behind the strikers.”

First-team squad members Green, Arran Pugh and Calvin Brooks were all given just over an hour of game time while keeper Tim Sandercombe played the full 90 minutes.

Magpies: Sandercombe, Brooks (Godfrey 65), Michie, Rolls, Pugh (Smith 65), Peart, Twyford, Gape, Vallier, Green (Carlile 65), Beasley. Subs not used: Gwenzi, Floyd
