FOOTBALL: Richmond hoping for an explosive start for Terras
JAKE Richmond wants to see his Terras explode out of the blocks at Tintinhull in the Bespoke Teamwear Dorset Premier League tomorrow (3pm).
The Weymouth second-string boss is concerned by his side’s slow starts in games this season and wants to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Richmond told Echosport: “In the last two or three games we have started really poorly and if we continue to do that sooner or later we are going to get punished.
“Nine of the 15 goals we have conceded this season have come in the first half and of the 25 we have scored only six have been before half-time, which really does tell a story.
“At the moment we are strong finishers but slow starters and when you are like that you are always running the risk.
“The fact we are currently lying fourth for such a young squad is a great effort but we need to keep learning quickly if we are to build on such an encouraging start.
“All I ask is that the lads are on it from the very first minute tomorrow. If that happens then we will do just fine.”
Carl McClements is unlikely to be back in action for the Terras until mid-October after breaking a wrist, while Lloyd Beals is unavailable this weekend due to university trials. Gareth Will and Jordan Tewkesbury are expected to return.
Portland United also face a tricky trip to Parley Sports while Bridport Reserves travel to Sherborne Town Reserves.
The Blues, who sit just one point adrift of the summit with a game in hand, were defeated 3-2 on their last league visit to Christchurch Road back on March 9.
