SENIOR CUP: Dorchester, Weymouth and Bridport all in action tonight
6:00am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in Local Sport
DORCHESTER Town, Weymouth and Bridport enter the Dorset Senior Cup tonight with two of the three on course to meet in the last eight.
The Terras and Bees will meet in the quarter-finals if they see off Shaftesbury Town and Sherborne Town respectively in the second round.
Weymouth will field a mixture of first-team fringe players and res-erves in their home clash against the Rockies while Bridport welcome back Tom Richardson, Chris Luke and Max Buckler at St Mary’s Field.
Commenting ahead of this evening’s tie at the Bob Lucas Stad-ium, Terras’ boss Brendon King, pictured, told Echosport: “It will be a similar side to the one that faced Bashley in the Red Insure Cup last week.
“Not only does it give some of the first-team lads that didn’t play on Saturday a chance to get some minutes under their belts, but it is also an opportunity to take another look at some of the youngsters.
“The lads in the reserves are doing well and these sorts of games are a reward for their continued hard work.”
Phil Simkin is also set to give youth a chance tonight when his Magpies entertain Hamworthy Rec-reation.
The Dorchester boss said: “I shall be having a look at one or two things before Saturday’s trip to Bromley.
“There will be some young lads in the side and this cup does give them a chance to play.”
Simkin also confirmed Danny Green will be out for another four weeks with a hamstring problem.
All three ties kick-off at 7.45pm.
