PUDDLETOWN 5 WEYMOUTH SECONDS 58
SEAN Murphy, Will Quick and Joe Gibson bagged a brace of tries each as Weymouth Seconds blitzed Puddletown in Dorset & Wilts Two South.
The visitors crossed the hosts’ try line 10 times in all to register another bonus-point win.
The game ebbed and flowed in the opening stages with neither side able to get into the scoring zone.
Eventually it was Weymouth that broke the deadlock after being awarded a penalty on Puddletown’s 22.
Weymouth kicked for the corner and from the resulting line-out Murphy drove through to cross the whitewash.
Puddletown attacked the Weymouth line from the restart and were unlucky not to score when they were turned over five metres out.
Their bad luck was compounded when Wey-mouth broke away and Quick crossed for his first try of the afternoon.
Both teams continued to battle away and, just before half-time, Weymouth scored again.
An excellent move that started in their own half ended with Gibson racing over to make it 15-0 at the interval.
The hosts did all they could to get back into the game in the second period and they were duly rewarded with a try. They continued to attack with vigour but this left plenty of space for Weymouth to score after the Villagers turned the ball over on numerous occasions.
Weymouth’s second half tries were scored by Murphy, Dean Parker, Quick, Gibson, Ryan Lewenden, Joel Wilson and Andy Bowditch, with Lewenden adding four conversions.
Captain Kevin Leatham praised his team for their work rate and next up it is Oakmeadians Seconds at Monmouth Avenue this Saturday. Puddletown go to Dorchester Seconds.
