DORCHESTER Town chairman Neal Butterworth has apologised for any upset caused in relation to the circumstances surrounding former physio Damion Maston’s departure from the Avenue.

Butterworth has confirmed that Maston, pictured, gave the club notice of his intention to leave his role after Saturday’s game at Wes-ton-super-Mare back in November.

This was contrary to claims made in an Echosport article yesterday by Magpies’ manager Phil Simkin that stated Maston had failed to give notice.

The Dorchester chairman has also confirmed to Echosport that Maston was under no obligation to give any notice given he was on non-contract terms at the club.

“We would like to apologise for any upset caused,” said Butter-worth. “From our point of view there was no intention to cause any upset.

“Damion did give an indication of his intent to leave at the end of November and gave us notice that he would be with us until the end of December.

“Damion was not on a contract so didn’t have any formal obligation to give us notice.”

The club is hoping to have someone with first-aid or physiotherapy experience on hand for today’s match at Eastleigh.

* The Dorset Echo would also like to apologise to Mr Maston for any distress caused by yesterday’s article.
