PDC Pro Tour rookie Ben Ward has taken another big step in his flourishing darts career by signing with Nevada Darts, a management company representing a growing number of the sport’s top talents.

Ward, 25, joins the likes of BDO world champion Stephen Bunting, who recently made the switch to the PDC ranks, to be represented by Jon Archer.

The company’s financial backing is set to help Ward significantly during his first year on the tour, giving the Dorchester ace a better chance to focus on his darts.

“It’s a perfect deal for me,” said Ward, who earned a two-year tour card following his performances on the Unicorn Challenge Tour last year.

“I don’t have to worry about the financial side of things.

“They sort out my travel and find me sponsorship deals and exhibitions to play.”

He added: “Before I signed I spoke to the guys Jon represents and every one of them couldn’t fault him.

“I’ve signed up for five years with him.”

On the oche, Ward missed out on a place at the German Championship and Dutch Masters at qualifying in Wigan.

His bid to reach the German event was ended by an in-form Richie Howson before he fell at the final hurdle against Darren Webster in attempting to make the Dutch tournament.

But he goes back to the Robin Park Tennis Centre next month to compete in the Coral UK Open qualifiers in the hope of reaching the televised stages at Butlins Minehead in early March.
