UPWEY & Broadwey’s Dorset Senior Trophy campaign last season was beset by postponements caused by the bad weather – and their run in the competition this term isn’t faring well either.

They are due to host Dorset Senior League rivals Witchampton United in the quarter-finals at Redlands tomorrow (1.30pm), but Upwey boss Steve Reynolds sees the tie being beaten by the elements yet again.

The game has already fallen to the weather twice, though it has some way to go before matching Upwey’s third round encounter with Okeford United last year, which was postponed seven times.

If it does get the green light then Upwey will be without captain Phil Anderson through suspension, while Lewis Ironside is a doubt due to an Achilles problem.

However, Reynolds has confirmed that striker Robbie Rolls, a recent signing from Kangaroos, is in line to make his first start for the club.

A semi-final against Sturminster Marshall is the reward for the winners of tomorrow’s clash but Reynolds is focusing on Witchampton first – the sides are set to meet again in the league a week later.

“The last couple of seasons we’ve struggled against them at their place and done well against them at home,” he said.

On Rolls, he added: “We’ve been looking to get him across for several seasons. He gives us variation and he has got a good engine.”

Like Reynolds, the primary aim for Chickerell United manager Steve Coward and Portland United Reserves’ boss Chris Hicks is to see their games go ahead.

The Chickens haven’t played for three weeks and last Saturday were knocked off the top of the league by Westland Sports after they beat Sturminster Marshall 2-0.

Piddletrenthide United are the visitors to The Stalls tomorrow (2pm).

The wet weather has had a big impact on Portland United Reserves, who haven’t managed to play a league fixture since mid-December.

The islanders, in sixth, are scheduled to go to fifth-placed Corfe Mullen United tomorrow (2pm).

Other than James Turrell, who is unavailable, Hicks has a virtually fully fit squad to pick from to face the side that beat his men 4-2 just last month.
