THERE were mixed emotions for Phil Simkin after a late equaliser denied his Dorchester Town team all three points at Bishop’s Stortford last night.

Nathan Walker gave the visitors the lead soon after the break only for Michael Richens to level with a couple of minutes remaining.

And while understandably disappointed not to see the Magpies hold on for the win, Simkin was full of praise for the way the county town outfit performed.

“We are desperately disappointed we didn’t get the three points, but what a great performance against probably the best side we have played this season,” he said.

“The effort the players put in needed to be seen to be believed.

“Bishop’s Stortford are a terrific side and if someone had offered me a point before the game I would have taken it, but it’s disappointing when you get so close to all three.

“They put us under so much pressure but we defended well and rode our luck, which we have been due a bit of.

“There are mixed emotions having been in front for so long, though in the end we could have lost the game.”
