JASON Matthews has admitted he would be keen to make some of his loan signings permanent members of the Terras’ squad for next season.

However, as Matthews stated, that is entirely dependent on each player’s personal circumstances at their parent clubs.

The player-boss confirmed that all of the players currently on loan at the Bob Lucas Stadium will be staying until the end of the campaign at the very least, but what happens after that remains to be seen.

With injuries to the likes of Scott Walker and Luke Winsper, and illness possibly ruling Stewart Yetton, pictured, and Barry McConnell out of tomorrow’s game at Burnham (3pm), the loan signings are again set to prove their worth.

“Every loan player we’ve got is on loan until the end of the season, which is good for me,” said Matthews. “The squad we have got now will probably see us through to the end of the season.

“All of the loan players have fitted in very well.

“It gives us competition for places and people know they can’t just turn up and get picked.”

When asked if he would be interested in holding on to any of the loanees on a permanent basis, he added: “I have a list of targets I want and I would quite like some of those players.

“But I can’t say whether or not that’s possible because they are with league clubs and I don’t know what their situation is.”

Matthews doesn’t envisage seeing Winsper in a Weymouth shirt again this season and the youngster is still waiting for the swelling on his foot to go down before an accurate diagnosis on his injured foot is possible.

Walker (groin) is rated at 50-50 for the match and the Terras’ chief won’t risk the midfielder if it means waiting another week for him to return to full fitness.

Burnham, meanwhile, like Bashley, will provide the Terras’ opposition in their next two outings, with the reverse fixture in Weymouth on Tuesday.
