RADSTOCK TOWN 0

BRIDPORT 3

BRIDPORT eased their way to a comfortable victory against 10-man Radstock Town to make it three wins from their last five league outings.

Jamie Filkins, Dan Wise and substitute Matt Morley found the net as the Bees did the double over the Somerset outfit.

The visitors went close to going in front on two occasions inside the opening 20 minutes, with Chris Clarke heading over and Tom Richardson hitting an upright.

But they did take the lead in the 25th minute when a Shane Evans cross to the far post found Filkins and he headed home from eight yards.

Then, just before the break, Radstock were dealt a huge blow when they had a man sent off for dissent – but it got much worse for the Miners on the stroke of half-time.

A ball played in behind the home side’s defence found Wise and he raced forward to execute a perfectly weighted lob over the keeper.

The game was well and truly put to bed by the visitors with 25 minutes left when Morley, on for Clarke, scored with a lob of his own to make it 3-0.

“It was probably the first game this season where we have led and been really comfortable,” said Bees’ boss Trevor Senior. “I didn’t feel there was any threat from them or that they were going to get back in the game.

“All they did was knock the ball long and try to stop us from playing on a really bobbly pitch.

“We were taking too many touches in the first 20 minutes but then the penny dropped and we started putting the ball in areas that caused them problems.

“It was good to get another win and keep a clean sheet.”

Bridport’s next Toolstation Western League Premier Division match is at home to Street on Good Friday (3pm).
