MARK Wolstenholme ripped his way through the Wales top order to put Dorset in a strong position with a lead of 20 after day one in Abergavenny today.

The right-arm seamer removed the first five batsmen in the Welsh order, and claimed overall figures of 5-62 from his 16 first innings overs.

Backing their strike bowler up, James Hayman (2-25) and Sam Thomson (2-13) were economical, and vice-skipper Jake Lintott grabbed the other scalp as Wales closed on 124 all out off 55.4 overs.

In reply, Masoor Khan continued his good form at the top of the order with 49, but Dorset stuttered to 88-4 with opener Michael Porter and debutant Ben Bridgen both dismissed without scoring.

But the visitors then rebuilt late in the day through skipper Chris Park (20) and Luke Webb (25), both will resume tomorrow with the score on 144-5.
