WEYMOUTH manager Jason Matthews praised his side’s attacking flair after the Terras hit four past Frome at the Bob Lucas Stadium last night to go top of the Southern Premier League.

Goals from Jamie Laird, Adam Kelly, Stewart Yetton and George Rigg sealed the win, the club’s second successive victory, earning them maximum points in the league so far.

“It was a good win, I knew that Frome would be a tough game and they didn’t disappoint me,” Matthews told Echosport.

“I thought we came out of the blocks brilliantly for the first 25 minutes and they must have wondered what had hit them. We just took our foot off the gas for just 10 minutes and they got the penalty that I thought was very harsh.

“But I said to the boys at half-time just to keep doing what we are good at, we hunted in twos and threes and we didn’t panic.”

And although Kelly’s 30-yard strike was a notable highlight, Matthews also hailed the slick passing for the Terras’ final goal.

“The fourth goal is probably good enough for two leagues higher, it was about a 10-pass move, it was great and I must admit I had a buzz from it.”

The Weymouth manager also named Conor Jevon on the bench for last night’s game, and he expects the young striker to stay at the club after he received interest from Poole Town last week.

“I think that Conor will stay with the club,” Matthews added. “We have had a chat and we need to finalise a few details but I think he has a big future with us.”
