SEASIDERS’ skipper Kieron Womble is already looking for the club to build for next season, starting with their home clash with Broadstone tomorrow (1pm).

After Weymouth secured their top-four spot in Premier One earlier this month, tomorrow’s hosts are coming off the back of three straight defeats in the league’s top tier, and have virtually nothing to play for but pride as the campaign closes.

While a win over the Delph Woods outfit could move Kieron Womble’s men back up to third spot in the league standings, the skipper claims the club will already start trying out new ideas in preparation for next summer.

“We are changing things around and giving things a go to build for next year really,” he told Echo-sport.

“We have a very mixed team again this week but, at this stage of the season, we are just going to take every game as it comes and enjoy it, hopefully we can produce a good performance.

“You never know what might happen next year, for these guys to play first team cricket is a big boost and there is no pressure on them, they can try new things and give it a go.”

But even though Weymouth are relative underdogs against the league’s big guns in Poole and Parley, who are both still vying for the title, Womble would like nothing more than to cause an upset and ensure his side have a say in the destination of the league crown.

He added: “We won’t just give anyone a win, we will make people work for it and we will be there or thereabouts in games.

“Some of the results we had in the regular season were a great confidence boost to the club. I know these last six games might not go the way we want but we will still enjoy it and next year we can put up a fight against these top teams.”
