STEVE Walker believes Magpies’ boss Graham Kemp has made a mistake by letting him leave the club.

The defender signed a one-year deal with Frome on Monday night after falling out of favour with the Dorchester chief.

Kemp stated earlier this week that the signings of centre-backs Chris Dillon and Matt Oldring meant Walker would not be getting as much game time as he would have hoped for.

On the reasons behind his move from Dorchester, Walker said: “The manager came in and I wasn’t part of his plans.

“There’s not a lot I could have done if the manager didn’t want me in the team.

“He didn’t really give me a chance and I don’t know what the reasons were for it, I guess I wasn’t his kind of player.

“I think there was a clash of personalities between me and the manager.

“He made it clear he didn’t want me so it was time to move on and start afresh.

“I think he has made a mistake by letting me go and I think they will miss me.”

Walker broke into the Dorchester first team during the 2012/13 season and also captained the club’s reserve side during his time at the Avenue.

And, although his priorities now lie with his new club, Walker admitted to Echosport that he would like to play for the Magpies again in the future.

He added: “I love the club with a passion and always wore my heart on my sleeve when I played.

“The club has been a big part of my life and leaving has upset me.

“It’s a club I’ve always had a love for and they looked after me so well.

“I’d love to come back to Dorchester in the future.

“I’d like to thank the club for all they have done for me.

“I’ve got a new challenge now and I’m going to look to prove myself at Frome.”

Walker also stated that he didn’t “go chasing another club” and it was Frome who made the initial approach to Dorchester.

His new side hosts his former club in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on November 19 in what will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
