JASON Matthews hailed the heart of his Terras’ charges as their FA Cup rollercoaster came to a halt at Braintree Town last night.

Having levelled things up from 3-1 down to force extra time in Essex, the Weymouth supremo admitted his side did not quite have enough in the 5-3 defeat, but was extremely proud nonetheless.

“We put in a fantastic performance and everyone was outstanding,” he told Echosport.

“To come back from 3-1 shows great character and it just goes to show that we have quality, heart, and a great team spirit.

“With the injuries we had tonight and Ashley Wells being unavailable, we lacked a couple of bodies. We ran out of steam a little bit at the end and that was probably the difference but the boys that played were magnificent.

“I am very proud, it is great being Wey-mouth manager and I feel I have the club back and buzzing now and that was one of the targets I set myself, but I am not one to rest on my laurels and I know we have to keep going.”
