NEW Star have taken over from Dorothy at the top of the Wey-mouth Sunday League after the latter’s last home match was declared void.

Dorothy were guilty of fielding an unregistered player in their 6-0 defeat of Moby Dick’s on October 19, meaning that result has been wiped from the records.

However, although they have lost the three points from the Redlands clash, Dorothy will get the chance to replay the fixture later in the season.

The points deduction, and New Star’s 8-0 thrashing of Broad-mayne last weekend, has seen Dorothy drop to second in the table.

Stu Burley scored four for Portland outfit New Star, Marcus Simpson netted a hat-trick and Rob Squibb got the islanders’ other goal as they celebrated a seventh win out of seven on Sunday.

New star boss Matt Ramsey was buoyant with his team’s display. He said: “We knew Broadmayne would be a test for us after their result last week but we never let them get started and imposed our game from the off.

“This was probably our most dominant performance this year. We looked solid at the back, created chance after chance through the middle, and we’ve always got goals in this side.”

Dorothy, who have now played a game less than the leaders, beat Famous Old Spa 5-2.

Ben Mackie and Dean Williams both recorded braces while Gary Harvey was also on target.

Chris Skinner and Dean Taylor replied for the Spa who suffered their first loss of the campaign.

Another side to hit eight was Dolphin and, like Burley, Sean Gulliver claimed a four-goal haul.

There were three for Sean Zima and one for substitute Callum Bigg as fifth-placed Dolphin thumped Moby Dick’s 8-0.

Another player to get on the scoresheet four times for his team was Matt Roberts of Bakers Arms in their 7-1 victory at Weatherbury. Steve Hillier, Noel Mackie and Adam Shaw completed the rout, while Chris Lee got the hosts’ consolation.

A Reece Clarke hat-trick and Ray McNab double took Sailors Return to a 6-3 win against Junc-tion Trojans. Ashley Anderson also found the net for Sailors.

Meanwhile, Danny Bott and Damian McLucas netted for Market House in their 2-2 draw with The Alex, who will have to replay against Weatherbury having also fielded an unregistered player on October 19 – The Alex won 6-1 on that occasion.
