DORCHESTER TOWN RES 6 RINGWOOD TOWN RES 0

MAGPIES’ captain Lewis Brown scored another brace as the hosts despatched Ringwood with ease at the Avenue.

Brown, whose two goals had earned Dorchester a 2-2 draw against Bemerton in the Wyvern Shield last Saturday, bagged a second successive double in the home side’s 6-0 league win on Tuesday night.

Scott Walters, Chris Wiliams, Alex Godfrey and Josh Bertie were also on target for Jay Keating and Neil Mackie’s men.

Victory took the Magpies up to fourth in the Wyvern Premier Division, six points behind leaders Sholing with three games in hand.

Ringwood’s Parris Simpkins nearly opened the scoring when his shot hit the crossbar, before Brown broke the deadlock after being found by Godfrey.

Williams made it 2-0, smashing the ball home from Frankie White’s corner, this after both keepers had been called into action.

Another assist from White enabled Brown to score again, and it could have been worse for the visitors going into half-time if Godfrey and Brandon Huckstepp had made more of their chances.

Bertie replaced White at the interval and almost got Dorchester’s fourth when his free-kick struck the crossbar.

However, Walters was on the mark soon after and then substitute Pete Taylor’s header was deflected on to the woodwork.

The Magpies hit five thanks to Godfrey and Bertie rounded off the scoring, beating Rob Gillett from long range.
