MARK Jermyn’s reign in the Dorchester Town hot-seat begins for real tomorrow, and the team’s new player-manager is under no illusions about the task at hand.

Jermyn’s first match in charge of the Magpies sees the county town outfit travel to Treyew Road in Cornwall for a clash with high-flying Truro City (3pm).

The White Tigers have lost just once in their last nine league games and sit fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division, six points behind leaders Weymouth.

But Jermyn is hoping that the confidence boost gained from last weekend’s defeat of Ban-bury United will stand his men in good stead for tomorrow’s fixture.

“The boys showed a lot of heart to get back into the game last Satur-day,” he told Echosport.

“Even when they went a goal down their heads did not drop, and we need that attitude to continue for the rest of the season.

“Truro are doing extremely well at the moment and I don’t think they come much bigger than the challenge we face tomorrow.

“But we have been working on one or two things that we want to happen in the game and everyone is looking forward to it.”

He continued: “I want us to be as professional as we can in how we go about our work.

“We have got good players at the club and I saw that on Saturday and in training.

“We need players who want to be here and take up the challenge of getting us out of the position we are in.

“We’re not dwelling on where we are in the league, what’s happened has happened.”

Jermyn and assistant Nick Crittenden will be available to play in Cornwall, while Matt Oldring is back after a one-game ban.

Meanwhile, Jermyn also confirmed that his new Magpies’ contract runs for the rest of this campaign and the whole of next season.
