WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND have a fifth victory in six matches in their sights tomorrow when Wimborne Thirds visit Monmouth Avenue (3pm).

Paul Harding’s troops got back to winning ways last Saturday, seeing off Swanage & Wareham Seconds following a high-scoring defeat to Salisbury Seconds.

And all things being well, Weymouth & Portland should have more than enough to overcome a side that is on a run of seven consecutive losses in league and cup.

George Carter comes back into Harding’s squad after missing the Swanage success with a chest infection, while a late decision will be made at scrum-half with Gorden Tye (hamstring) unavailable.

“Another good performance is what we’re really looking for,” said Harding.

“Last Saturday made the players aware of what they could achieve with the right attitude.

“The performance was brought about by the way the players approached the game and if they do the same this weekend then we will do well again.”

Elsewhere in Two South, Bridport make the relatively short journey to Greenfields for a derby showdown with Puddletown.

A win for the Blues would give them a league double over their opponents, though the fans who turn up for the fixture will be hoping it is a more entertaining clash than the one at the Brewery Field earlier in the season.

In a low-scoring contest it was Bridport who just managed to come out on top 3-0.

The Villagers, however, can still claim a place in the top three come the end of the campaign.

There should be a win for Dorchester Seconds tomorrow as they take on bottom club North Dorset Thirds at Coburg Road.

North Dorset have struggled all season and don’t even have a point to their name right now – they also lost 26-18 to Dorchester last November.

Swanage & Wareham should have the Southern Counties South championship wrapped up soon, and Walcot, the visitors to Bestwall this weekend, are unlikely to cause them many problems.

And after a desperately poor run of results, Martyn Peel’s Dorchester should pick up some much-needed points against struggling Swindon outfit Supermarine.

Last weekend saw Dorchester Thirds lose ground to Lytchett Minster in the Dorset & Wilts Four title race.

Dorchester will be eager to put that 50-0 thrashing by Lytchett behind them when they go to Wincanton tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Weymouth & Portland Thirds host Ellingham & Ringwood Thirds in the same division.
