SELECTION headaches have set in for Terras’ boss Jason Matthews going into tomorrow’s league clash with Dunstable Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium (3pm).

A number of squad players impressed him during their midweek triumph over Poole Town in the Dorset Senior Cup, and the player-manager even hinted some of the star performers could keep their places in the starting XI.

“I was absolutely delighted on Tuesday night,” he told Echosport. "Making sure people know they are not just guaranteed their places has shaken things up a little bit.

“There were some great performances from some of the lads who have been fringe players, and it’s given me some decisions to make.

"A couple of the lads have played their way in. I think Callum Laird played very well at right-back and Jordan Copp did very well at left-back. It has given me a selection headache.

“Those boys that have been banging on my door asking for a chance got their opportunity on Tuesday and fair play to them. For them it’s about kicking on now.”

Matthews also indicated that defender Callum Laird, the brother of Jamie who is dual-registered with Bridgwater Reserves, is likely to remain with the Terras to take on the Blues tomorrow.

Quizzed on Dunstable, he added: “They are a really good side and I don’t think they hide the fact they have spent quite big.

"They must be disappointed with their form but it is about us concentrating on ourselves.”

“They have had a bit of a blip but they have got a new manager and that always sparks a bit of a reaction.

“I feel in a really positive frame of mind now and we answered a few of our own supporters who were starting to question what was going on.”

Ashley Wells is set to miss out through suspension once again for the hosts, who beat Dunstable 3-1 earlier in the season thanks to a Stewart Yetton brace and goal from Chris McPhee.
