JASON Matthews is looking to repay the Terras’ faithful by claiming silverware in this evening’s Dorset Senior Cup showdown with Dorchester Town.

Jamie Beasley is set to come back into the Weymouth squad for the final with the Magpies at the Bob Lucas Stadium (7.45pm) and, while a league play-off place is still up for grabs for his squad, the Terras boss will be giving tonight’s clash his full attention.

“It’s a massive game as far as I’m concerned,” he told Echosport.

“It’s a big thing for me and it’s a big thing for the fans.

“They travelled in great numbers on Saturday and made a fantastic noise, and it was really hurtful that we lost. It is probably a chance to make it up to those fans who have been so loyal this season.

“They have supported me through thick and thin. I have come in for some flack over the last few days and it does hurt when you spend your time trying to do what’s best for the club, but a few positive results can put things right.”

Commenting on the Magpies, Matthews added: “Jem (Mark Jermyn) has an affinity to Dorchester as I have with Weymouth.

“He has turned them around and made them hard to beat. I know he will be desperate to win.

“We are friends off the pitch but on that pitch there will definitely be no friendships and no quarter given.”
