MARK Jermyn is planning to go all out for victory in tonight’s Dorset Senior Cup final, as Weymouth and Dorchester lock horns at the Bob Lucas Stadium (7.45pm).

The county town boss, who guided his side to safety in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division on Saturday, insists the Magpies won't be taking a backward step on Terras soil.

“From our point of view we are really going to go for it,” he told Echosport.

“I think we will put out the most competitive side we can regardless of what Weymouth choose to do.

“They have got some tough games coming up so I would have thought they will be keeping an eye on the play-offs, but it is up to them however they choose to set up.

“Regardless of that we are going to go out with our strongest team.

“Local derbies, especially against Weymouth, mean a lot to the surrounding areas. Weymouth have won all three games with us so far this season and there are quite a lot of bragging rights to go around.

“People have been saying the Dorset Senior Cup doesn’t mean anything but in my mind there are three competitive teams in the competition in Dorchester, Weymouth and Poole.”

And with the Magpies picking up positive results against some of the league’s big guns, Jermyn believes there is every chance of taking the trophy back to the county town.

He added: “We played Poole and got the result against them and I have already spoken to the players and the fact is that I want to win, there are no two ways about it.

“When you look at where we have been in recent weeks we are certainly the team on the up and they are the team on the decline.”

However, the Magpies will be without on-loan striker Mark Irvine, who is ruled out with a hamstring injury picked up against Poole.

Jermyn added: “We try and look after our players as best as we can and in order for me to look after Mark it means that, unfortunately, he won’t play again this season.

“We have spoken to him with next season in mind.”
