LOSING four times in one season to rivals Weymouth is simply unacceptable in the eyes of Dorchester Town’s Nathan Walker.

Tuesday night’s defeat to the Terras in the Dorset Senior Cup final followed three previous Ridgeway derby losses for the Magpies this term.

Walker had no complaints about the award of the penalty which resulted in Jordan Copp’s winning goal, and he accepted the better side on the day won.

“It wasn’t up to our performances of late,” he said. “Obviously it was very annoying because we went there thinking we could get a result.

“It was a soft penalty but I think the correct decision was made, and they had the better chances overall.

“They made it very tough for us and at the end of the night they were the better team.

“It’s always disappointing when you lose, no matter who you lose to, but when you lose to your rivals it hurts a bit more.

“Losing four games to them is not acceptable, and if we want to be stronger next season then we can’t let things like that happen.”

Walker was left scratching his head as to why Dorchester were below their best at the Bob Lucas Stadium having played well in recent weeks.

However, he does feel that they can bounce back this Saturday when Paulton Rovers are their opponents in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

He added: “We started slowly at Corby and came into the game in the second half, but we were hungrier against Poole and did really well to win that one.

“It just wasn’t there against Weymouth and I couldn’t put my finger on it as to why.

“We were confident going into the game but it just didn’t go our way.

“We’ve got Paulton this Saturday and that gives us a chance to put things right.

“Hopefully the fans will see a different side on Saturday.”

Dorchester lost the reverse fixture last December 4-3 despite leading 3-1 late in the game.

The Magpies’ reserve team are away at AFC Totton in the Wyvern Premier Division tonight (7.45pm).
