JASON Matthews has spoken out over reports linking skipper Stewart Yetton with a return to former club Truro City.

The striker became a club legend during a lengthy spell with the White Tigers before he arrived at the Bob Lucas Stadium in 2013.

Truro boss Steve Tully is reported in the Cornish media to have said the move was a “non-starter” with his side not willing to pay a transfer fee for the striker, who is beginning the second season of a two-year contract.

Shedding more light on the matter, Matthews told Echosport: “Truro have asked for permission to speak to Stewart Yetton and that’s as far as it’s gone.

“He is not for sale.”

Also quizzed on the situation by Echosport, Weymouth’s Yetton added: “I am happy at the club, I love being captain, and really, it’s down to the two clubs to even get anywhere near an agreement before it even becomes my decision.

“That’s not me saying I would leave anyway, that’s just the fact of the matter.”
