AFTER moving out of the Premier League’s bottom two for the first time this season last weekend, Dorchester will be out to claim the scalp of table-topping Sherborne tomorrow (1pm).

The county town outfit go in search of a fourth successive victory at Dorchester Rec and look to erase the memories of their defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this term.

Skipper Simon Mitchem and his men were left hugely frustrated after losing James Dunham and Shaun Little to injury during the three-wicket defeat away to Sherborne in May.

Little fractured a foot in two places while batting and Dunham dislocated a thumb when fielding.

It just so happens that Little’s first game back following that setback is against the same opposition tomorrow.

Will Caldwell and Dan Morris also come into the side as Rob Waite, Sean Fitzgerald and Matt Porter miss out.

And Little’s return to the fold comes as Dorchester begin a run of matches against teams in the top half of the table.

Reflecting on Dorchester’s recent form and the previous meeting with Sherborne, Mitchem said: “To win three games against three teams around you in the league is always good.

“It’s good knowing that you are out of the bottom two in the table and hopefully we can stay out of those positions.

“It won’t be easy this weekend because Sherborne are probably the best team we have played this season.

“But we won’t be there just to make up the numbers, we’ll be going out to win the game.

“We scored 247 at their place and I thought we were very unlucky not to win that one.

“Having those two injuries was very hard to take.

“That was the last game Shaun Little played so it’s great to have him back.

“It’s a massive boost to have Will Caldwell back as well, and the same goes for Dan Morris after his knock against Stalbridge.”

On his charges’ upcoming fixtures, he added: “We’re going from playing three teams around us to playing the likes of Sherborne, Poole, Parley and Wimborne over the next few weeks.

“It’s going to be a very tough run of games but the lads are enjoying their cricket and you can see they are playing for each other.”

Meanwhile, Mitchem was also keen to highlight the good form that Dorchester Seconds are in right now.

A 10-wicket thrashing of their Weymouth counterparts last time out also gave them a third win on the trot.

They continue their promotion push in County Division Three tomorrow with a trip to Beaminster.
