WEYMOUTH will be looking to end their barren run of form in the Dorset Premier League tomorrow when they travel to Broadstone (1pm).

A string of 12 straight losses from 12 outings this term has seen the Seasiders rooted to the foot of the division right from the outset of the campaign.

Still searching for that elusive first victory, captain Kieron Womble’s troops are a mammoth 72 points behind second bottom Stalbridge, with relegation looking a certainty.

But, having lost to neighbours Dorchester last weekend, the skipper indicated it only takes one special performance to stop the rot, and that is exactly what he is hoping for at Broadstone’s Delph home this weekend.

Womble told Echosport: “It would be nice and it’s always interesting going to the Delph.

“There are short boundaries there so it is always a place where someone can get a quick fifty or hundred. It could be the place where we get that special performance.

“Every team that goes there plans to attack but it depends on the first 25 overs. If you still have a lot of batting to come then you can really give it a go up there.

“I think in the games I have played in there you definitely need 240 to have a chance. There are some really big scores to be had.”

Ryan Sers, Dom Webb and Luke Lovett are set to come into the Seasiders’ squad, while Simon Browne, Jim Ryall and Will McKay are unavailable. Womble himself is also a doubt with a slight back problem.

He added: “I have a few guys that are coming in from the twos and if they were to do it then it would be very special for us.

“We are a little bit short of batting this week but we have got to some reasonable totals.

“We are looking to pick up that win, but, to be honest, if we don’t get over the line a decent performance would suffice.”

Commenting on Broadstone, who currently sit third in the standings with nine wins coming from their 12 fixtures, Womble knows his side are in for a stern challenge.

“They are always a solid team and have always been around mid table,” he claimed.

“They can take some big scalps as well. We know what we can expect from them.”

A Broadstone victory could see them put considerable pressure on fellow title chasers Poole and Sherborne.

In County Division Three, Weymouth Seconds have had to scratch a fixture for the second time this season. They were due to host Sturminster Marshall.
