GOSPORT BOROUGH 3
WEYMOUTH 1
WEYMOUTH have ended their stop-start pre-season schedule with a 3-1 defeat at Gosport Borough.
Terras’ boss Jason Matthews handed trialist Josh Grant, who picked up a knock, a start up front alongside skipper Stewart Yetton.
Fellow frontman Kailan Gould, also a trialist, was used from the bench at Privett Park.
The hosts named former Terras’ man Nathan Walker among their ranks.
Without a 90 minute test for three weeks, Weymouth fell behind just past the half hour mark when Jamie White’s deflected header found the net.
But the Terras soon responded and got back on level terms when former Poole Town man Billy Lowes scored his first goal in a Weymouth shirt on 37 minutes.
Following the break, the National League South side proved too much for the visitors.
Boro regained their lead from the penalty spot with Justin Bennett converting and White added his second to secure a 3-1 win.
With their final warm up game over, Matthews’ men go to Cambridge City on the opening day of the season next Saturday (3pm).
