WEYMOUTH Rowing Club (WRC) achieved yet another resounding success by becoming overall winners of the Lyme Regis Regatta.
Competing against 15 gig clubs and battling fierce competition in all 12 races, WRC finished in the first four in all but one, with the men’s A, ladies’ vets and ladies’ supervets crews winning theirs.
In addition to this, the men’s B, men’s supervets and ladies’ B and C crews all attained very creditable second places in their respective races.
In the ladies’ A race, a fierce battle between world champions Newquay, highly-ranked Ilfracombe and WRC ended with just a boat’s length separating the first and third gig. Weymouth’s crew were third.
WRC ladies’ captain Lynn Reynolds and men’s skipper Clive Moore were delighted with the results, and both congratulated the crews on their outstanding achievements so far this year.
Reynolds said: “I am so impressed with the commitment from all the competitive squads this season, the results clearly show how hard they are training.”
