JASON Matthews is eager for his Terras troops to put on a show for the fans against Bedworth United tomorrow (3pm) on what will be a unique occasion for the club.

Weymouth, set to wear a special kit this weekend to mark the club’s 125th anniversary, go into their clash with the 21st-placed Greenbacks off the back of a five-game unbeaten run, including a resounding 3-0 win against Cirencester on Tuesday.

And the Terras’ boss, who is also set to attend tonight’s 125th anniversary dinner at the Bob Lucas Stadium, is looking to seal three more points which could put Weymouth top of the pile in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Matthews told Echosport: “We will be up for it anyway. Forgetting the occasion, it will be another tough league game.

“Bedworth come in off a good win against King’s Lynn. We don’t know lots about them but a lot of it will boil down to us.

“After Tuesday night, where we played some great stuff, it would be nice if we can put on a performance like that at home. We are determined to do that.”

Commenting further about the club’s anniversary fixture, the Weymouth chief added: “I have an affinity with the club and it means a lot to me.

"I want everyone to start pulling together on and off the pitch.

“I feel that I am doing my little bit now and the boys are pulling in the right direction.

"We have taken a big step over the last 12 months but I don’t want to rest on my laurels.

“Hopefully we can go out there and put on a good show.”

Midfielder Mark Molesley remains suspended for the hosts tomorrow, while centre-half Pat Baldwin could return to the squad after a calf injury.
