THERE are now no sides left in the Weymouth Sunday League boasting a 100 per cent record following the 3-3 draw between Snookes Stags and Famous Old Spa.

The game at Redlands pitted the league’s top two teams against each other, with the Stags starting the encounter three points ahead of the Spa in first.

Going into the clash, the Stags had won all eight of their fixtures, while the Spa’s defeat of The Gloucester at the start of the month made it seven from seven for them.

And having taken the lead in the first-half, the Spa looked like they might have gone on to secure an eighth success on the spin and take over from their opponents as league leaders.

However, while they were able to add two more to their tally after the break, the hosts showed plenty of character to net three themselves and bag a point.

A Dean Taylor penalty and Chris Skinner brace accounted for the Spa’s goals, with Les Lewis converting two penalties in reply and Paul Myatt getting the Stags’ third.

With the Spa not in league action this weekend, the Stags can increase their advantage at the summit to six points if they can see off Finns at Redlands.

Meanwhile, The Alex are celebrating after recording a first Weymouth Sunday League victory of the season.

Their 4-3 triumph away to The Gloucester also saw them move off the foot of the table at the expense of Junction Trojans, who were without a game.

Matt Warren was The Alex’s hat-trick hero at Budmouth School, while Dave Pitney got his name on the scoresheet as well.

In reply, Bryn Lewis, Aaron Shenton and Daniel Shepperd scored for The Gloucester.

The Gloucester will hope to seal a second league success on Sunday when they visit the Trojans.

Broadmayne, in fourth, are now level on points with Dolphin, whose trip to Market House was postponed, following a massive 12-1 thrashing of Finns.

William Turland bagged seven of Broadmayne’s goals as Finns conceded a dozen at home for the second time this season.

Goals from Ben McInnes (2), James Moynehan, Tom Foyle and Paul O’Donnell made up the 12.

Fixtures: Broadmayne v The Alex (Broadmayne Playing Field), Finns v Snookes Stags (Redlands), Junction Trojans v The Gloucester (Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre), Market House v Kings Arms (The Marsh).
