HE has played less than a gameand- a-half for Dorchester Town but Luke Holmes has already done enough to impress assistant manager Nick Crittenden.

Holmes, signed from Wimborne last week, came off the bench to make his debut in the defeat by Hungerford at the weekend before playing the full 90 minutes against Hitchin on Tuesday.

And while his second appearance also came in a loss for the Magpies, Holmes impressed in the county town midfield and was named Dorchester’s man of the match.

“I thought Luke was excellent and he handled the pitch well,”

said Crittenden.

“He showed no fear when he was on the ball and tried to make something happen, and that’s all we ask of a player.

“Me and the manager are not going to scream and shot at people who are trying to do the right thing.

“Luke went out there and created things for us, and I think he was one of the only players to come out of the game with any credit.

“And he showed that you can actually go out on that pitch and play football, and you can still run at people and create stuff.

“I thought he was excellent as well when he came on last Saturday, so I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen of Luke.”

Dorchester’s next test is away to Histon on Saturday (3pm).
