CHICKERELL United chief Steve Coward knows his side only need a point at Gillingham Town Reserves tomorrow (7.30pm) to be crowned Dorset Senior League champions – but he has every intention of claiming all three.

The Chickens are within touching distance of landing the league championship and the Gills are now the only title rivals standing in the way of the Stalls outfit.

The last time the two sides met, Jamie Rawlings bagged a brace for Coward’s side in a 2-0 victory.

Looking ahead to tomorrow night's clash, the Chickens’ manager told Echosport: “We want to go and win it.

“We are certainly not going up there to park the bus. You can’t defend in a game for 90 minutes.

“I think they have to worry about us more than we have to worry about them.”

He added: “It will still be a tough game. They are not second in the league for no reason so we have to go up there, do our jobs, and concentrate.

“You never know what you are going to be up against with them. We have our team planned and have a decent squad going there, we have a focus on what we want to do and, hopefully, it comes off.”

Should Chickerell lose at Hardings Lane tomorrow, they will have to beat Witchampton in their final league fixture to seal the title.
