CORNISH SHARKS 49

JURASSIC CT RAPTORS 13

THE Raptors felt the full bite of the Cornish Sharks after they fell to defeat in Newquay.

The Dorset side's long journey to Cornwall started with the Sharks getting off to a fast start and quickly chalking up an early 20-point lead before the Raptors settled into the game.

However, the away side showed their defiant streak and started to find their feet in the game.

Team captain Sean Tapping made an athletic interception and ran the length of the pitch to score the first league points for the Raptors.

Shortly after, wide receiver Adam Barnes returned the Sharks' kick-off for a touchdown, a play that looked to be stopped for a short gain but instead was turned into an 80-yard touchdown run by Barnes’ determination not to be tackled.

It was a play that personified the Raptors' attitude and resilience all game.

The Raptors showed sparks of potential again on both sides the ball and without question have grown from two weeks ago.

This was summarised by defensive lineman Ben Townsend who clocked up a staggering nine solo tackles, as this team continues to develop and learn.

GAME MVPs

Harrison Jake (OLB) played with aggression and determination throughout and made several key tackles to keep the sharks at bay. He also stepped in to play as a running back, leaving the field with positive yards under his belt. Chris Cole (TE) had a superb game on both sides of the ball by making key receptions and contributing to the defence with five tackles a forced fumble and a QB sack.

The team plays its third away game in a row on the Sunday versus last year’s conference champions, Bristol Apache.
