SAM Thomson and Masoor Khan helped Dorset to a thrilling eight-wicket win over Cheshire on the final day of the MCCA Championship clash.
Nineteen wickets fell on a day of high drama as both teams declared to help find a result.
Dorset declared first when they reached 142-9 in the morning session, giving Cheshire a lead of 15.
The hosts needed wickets if they were to have any chance of winning the game, and Sam Thomson – fresh off a five-wicket haul in the first innings – took six wickets for 34 runs as the visitors declared on 137-9 with 33 overs left in the day.
Rick Moore top scored for the hosts with 41.
The home side were set a target of 153 for victory at just under five an over.
Both sides had a chance of picking up the win as runs had been hard to come by at a damp Chapel Gate.
But the hosts, started brightly as Khan and Tom Arnold set about knocking off the runs.
They put on 74 for the first wicket in 15.4 overs before Arnold was bowled by Jack Williams.
Luke Webb chipped in with 25 before he was sent back to the pavilion by Will Owen, but it was Khan who was the real driving force as he hit 69 not out from 89 balls to see his side home with three overs to spare.
The victory was Dorset’s first three-day win of the season.
