THE annual Round the Rock 10k race, hosted by Royal Manor of Portland Athletics Club, is scheduled for Sunday, August 21 at 10.30am.
The race started life in 2008 as the RMPAC Silver Jubilee 10k, after which it was decided to hold the race on an annual basis, with the new name of Round the Rock voted for by club members.
The route is undulating, predominately on tarmac roads and pavements, and takes competitors around the top of the Isle of Portland in a figure of eight, with a short loop of two-and-a-half kilometres and a longer loop of seven and a half kilometres.
The race starts and finishes at the Blues Club, Grove Road, at the home of Portland United Football Club and parking, as well as toilet and changing facilities, are available.
This year, the event is one of the Dorset Road League races, and due to this, organisers are expecting between 200 and 250 runners this year.
Entry is either through the RMPAC.com website or on the day if places are still available.
n If anyone would like to assist on the day by helping to marshal then contact Gary on 07864986938 or garyh.rmpac@gmail.com
