MOSTERTON trainer Anthony Honeyball revealed a new batch of promising youngsters at his owners’ day where his burgeoning string has increased to 40 horses, as sure a sign as any that the young trainers’ star is firmly in the ascendancy.

Last season, Honeyball trained 28 winners, his best so far with £212,000 in prize money earned for his owners from a team of just more than 30 active horses.

The figures are supported by consistently solid results over several seasons as Anthony and his wife Rachael, a former leading lady jockey, continue to make a significant impact in the world of jump racing.

Honeyball said: “Our aim has been to keep improving the quality of the horses that we train as it is the Saturday horses that owners want.

“This year we have notched up winners at Cheltenham and have been knocking on the door at big festivals such as Punchestown.

“We tend to buy young stores and several of these will be making their debuts in bumper races this season. It is always such an exciting time of year, with so much to look forward to and we are sure that the team we have assembled will win their share of valuable races.”

The couple enjoy the patronage of leading jumps owner JP McManus and this season Pure Vision, Regal Encore and Rouquine Sauvage will run in his colours.

The former is regarded as a chaser in the making and will soon be tried over the bigger obstacles, Regal Encore, who came tantalisingly close to winning at the Punchestown Festival, is on a career high mark of 147 while Rouquine Sauvage will begin her campaign over fences.

Cresswell Breeze is pencilled in for a £30,000 listed mares chase at Market Rasen on November 3 while hopes are high that Ms Parfois and Tacenda, both recruited from the Irish point-to-point field, can thrive in their new surroundings.

Ms Parfois certainly made an ideal debut for her new owners with a 10-length victory at Uttoxeter.

The Honeyballs regularly do well with store horses and their promising youngsters include Nocturnal Myth, an attractive three-year-old out of Gan On who ended up with a rating of 134 after winning four times for the yard, Fact of Life, who is related to game mare Fiddling The Facts, and a number of sons and daughters from high class performing sires such as Kings Theatre, Getaway, Shirocco and Milan.

The yard enjoys the sponsorship of Geegeez, a UK-based horse racing website, and The Geegeez Geegee, Dragoon Guard and East Wing, a bumper prospect, will run in their colours.

In addition, bumper winners over the past 12 months that are now ready for the switch to hurdles include G For Ginger, who followed up her debut second with a win at Uttoxeter, and Le Coeur Net who has strengthened up over the summer.

Fresh additions to the yard include point-to-pointers preparing for a new challenge over hurdles or fences. A former point-to-pointer who set the ball rolling in the summer was Midnight King for owners Richard and Jo Mann.

Unify and Royal Salute will both run in the colours of the Anthony Honeyball Racing Club, a popular club offering an affordable way to enjoy racehorse ownership.

Flat horses will also represent the yard with the two-year-old Black Prince and Jukebox Jive set to run this year.

With a promising team of horses and plenty of wind in their sails the future is looking increasingly bright for the couple.
